On August 22nd 2020, Julie Helping Hands Foundation (JHF) visited Divine wounds of Jesus Orphanage Home and Rehabilitation Centre at Tungan Maje, Abuja. The home comprises of orphans, homeless kids and serves as a rehabilitation centre for victims of drug abuse.
Due to the economic effects of the pandemic, orphaned children were among the most vulnerable groups faced with hunger and deprivation. This home was severely affected because the reduction in funding forced them to move out of their former location to a smaller place and the management could barely feed the forty (40) children in its custody at the time.
JHF came to the rescue with the donation of palliatives; food items, toiletries and educational materials. Since the children could not go to school due to the lockdown, they would be able to continue their remote learning with books to write.
The joy on their young faces knew no bounds as they could now feed and learn properly. According to one of the beneficiaries, ‘I am so happy knowing that I will have enough food to eat because I cannot learn when I am hungry’. The management staff was also very grateful. The Director, Rev. Victoria Ezemouka said to the JHF team, ‘Words are not enough to appreciate this timely visit. In difficult times as these, we needed all the support we could get and you have just done that and more’.
JHF says THANK YOU DEAR DONOR, as this project would not have been possible without you. Through your donations, vulnerable children can now feed, learn, and remain healthy during a crisis.
