The corona virus pandemic has greatly affected the Nigerian economy and therefore the external support given to orphans has reduced. Divine Wounds of Jesus Christ Orphanage/Rehabilitation home has suffered since this pandemic started due the burden of welfare administration. Julie Helping Hands Foundation will provide children with food items and educational materials. The educational materials are important as remote learning & home lessons have become the order of the day.
We protect vulnerable groups including children from hunger and deprivation. By donating food items we will solve the problem of inadequate feeding which may lead to malnutrition. The provision of educational materials will reduce the problem of non-learning due to lack of school materials.
We will provide these children with ample food items, groceries and toiletries that can last them post Covid-19. Our goal includes education so when we provide them with writing materials like notebooks and biros, they will be able to learn from the home as the lesson teachers can now give them notes and exercises.
The project will feed 40 children and ensure that they engage in remote learning for the next few months, thus, reducing the effects of the pandemic on the most vulnerable groups. For instance, when schools resume these children will not have been left behind but will continue learning as they should like their peers. They would also have fed properly and would not be looking malnourished. This would avert malnutrition-related illnesses which may result in absenteeism from school.
