COVID-19 is just beginning to sweep through Africa. There is a desperate need for thousands of protective facemasks to help slow the spread of the virus. Food is also in short supply. This project will provide sewing machines for producing mass amounts of facemasks for the local people, and an egg incubator to help build up a food supply to feed the hungry children in the community.
Local hospitals and Institutions need thousands of facemasks to help fight the spread of COVID-19. The local community is also in need of protective facemasks. Food scarcity is a growing problem facing the community, impacting the health and welfare of many poor children.
With only one operating sewing machine the current need for facemasks can not be met. With the addition of two more sewing machines production of facemasks can be speeded up to help cover the immediate need. Purchase of an egg incubator will help increase a substantial food source to help feed the children.
Slowing the spread of COVID-19 by providing local hospitals and the community with facemasks will help lessen the local impact from the pandemic. The incubator will provide an immediate food source, and will continue to provide an additional source of food after the threat of the pandemic has passed. The sewing machine and incubator will provide sustenance for the community for a long time to come.
