In 2021, due to the serious economic and health crisis in Brazil, the rural communities where Vaga Lume operates are going through a challenging moment, without access to basic rights such as the right to food.
With your support, we could articulate and mobilize resources and actors. With other partners, such as the New Zealand Embassy in Brazil, the NGO Olhar de Bia and the UniãoBr movement, we supported families and children from the most vulnerable communities in the region of the Brazilian Amazon. In total, we guaranteed food supplies to 775 families in the state of Amazonas, from 19 small rural communities.
There were many challenges to reach the families in the communities, but through the mobilization of our network of over 800 volunteers, we reached the most remote communities in the state of Amazonas.
Based on the information collected from the volunteers, Vaga Lume has started a new stage of humanitarian aid support. The donations of food supplies will be extended to other states and communities that are going through a difficult time. The continuity of this project is also a result of your support!
Below you can read one of the many thank you notes we receive from the volunteers and beneficiaries
“At this moment I want to extend our thanks to everyone for the support we received in this very difficult time we are all facing. We know that it is not easy for anyone, but Vaga Lume's team didn’t measure efforts to help us. This is not work for everyone, just for special people. With the donations it was possible to guarantee food on the table for those who need it. We are forever grateful to be part of this NGO. ” - Noé Rodrigues, Vaga Lume volunteer
Vaga Lume is committed to continue working with Covid-19 relief support until families have their basic rights guaranteed. Education is key to changing this reality and we count on your support to keep our activities going.
Thank you,
Vaga Lume's team
