This project will provide food supplies to 350 families across all 24 rural communities in the state of Amazonas where Vaga Lume operates. These families were hugely impacted by COVID-19's second wave, where unemployment rates are rising and basic access to food is scarce. By donating to Vaga Lume, you will be offering and delivering food items to children and their families in the Amazon, aiding them to overcome this crisis they are facing right now.
Vaga Lume is present in 24 rural communities in the state of Amazonas, the most affected state during the COVID-19 pandemic reaching over 18% of unemployment rate and 103% occupation of ICU beds. Families in these communities are currently struggling with access to food and basic protection items since the government's emergency financial assistance came to an end. The families Vaga Lume supports are spread along small communities with remote access by boat from the capital of the state, Manaus
Vaga Lume will ensure basic food supply is delivered to 350 families facing difficulties, purchasing food from local grocers and guarantee delivery logistics. We will count on the assistance of our network of local representatives and volunteers to do so.
We aim to help communities with basic food supplies so they are less susceptible to diseases and are able to feed their children. This project will support 350 families located in 24 communities of the state of Amazonas, in the Amazon Forest region, with the donation of food-parcel units which will provide food security and prevent child hunger.
