We are now welcoming our students back, after the mandatory lockdown that lasted 10 months. Together with their families, teachers and staff, we are a safe place for young children to learn, play, eat properly and be part of a loving community of approx. 515 people. Your support will help us through the reopening process of the school, in terms of bringing back children, support teachers and make our education project be alive again.
We want to continue improving the living conditions of our community by providing children a good quality education and youth job training for future advancement nevertheless, our project is currently threatened by the current crisis. Due to the mandatory lockdown until January, our school has been closed and all our students, families and teachers who were unemployed at the moment, faced complex challenges at covering basic necessities. We are now allowed to reopen the school and support them.
With the reopening of the school in past 18 January, we can now bring our children back to school and provide immediate relief to our extended school community. With your help we can: support the reopening process of the school through meals to our students; support our school staff; bring back the school to full operation within the next weeks, after 10 months of lockdown.
The consequences of staying afloat are tangible in the near future. Along with our volunteers, you and the people of the Gbawe community, we will continue to work towards the realization of the "Education Center for Disadvantaged Families Ghana". Our vision is to create an educational and community center for disadvantaged children and their families providing a space that leads the way out of poverty, increases the literacy rate, and encourages civic engagement by our own community members.
