This microproject will offer relief to the families of the 491 children registered in the Live and Learn in Kenya International program so that the parents and/or guardians can buy food and soap for the families during the months that the children are not able to attend school - where they receive meals and soap that are provided at school.
Covid-19 is still a very dark cloud over the entire world - and in the slums of Kenya, we see the fear in the eyes of everyone - men, women, the elderly - and children... Masks are worn at all times outside of their homes (if they even have a roof over their heads) and hunger is the second-most daily battle.
Food has become a luxury item for the simple fact that so many people are out of work and not able to buy them, now more expensive than ever, food to feed their families. The situation is fatal. Live and Learn in Kenya International has been able to provide some relief over the past 5 months. We have been able to provide all of the 486 Live and Learn in Kenya children's families with funds for food and soap. In April, $30 - in May, June and July $25 and sadly, in August only $18.
The families appreciate every cent that we are able to provide for food and soap! People are literally starving. So we are thankful for every donation - large or small - that will help to provide funds to feed our children and their families. We have increased the number of children on the program to 491 in order to help as many children as possible.
Every microproject is intended to use the donations it receives in accordance with its stated description; however, it is important to provide project leaders with the flexibility to maximize the potential benefit from the donations they receive. This means that your donation may be used as a part of the main project that supports this microproject, specifically Let's Keep Food on 480 Needy Children's Plates. In this event, the project leader is required to post an update to the microproject detailing the results and reasons behind this change.
If you or any other donor is unhappy with the way their funds have been used, he or she can reallocate their donation using the GlobalGiving guarantee.
