Summary

Active bushfires are reported in Peten, threatening many wild animals and their natural habitat. Combined with the Corona pandemic, ARCAS is facing a crisis that is threatening these animals and putting the wellbeing of the 500+ animals in our care - not to mention our staff - in peril. We rely on the income of volunteers and participants in our veterinary training program to survive, and these volunteers and students have cancelled. Please help us weather this crisis! Please donate!

Challenge

The consequences of the worldwide outbreak of Coronavirus, are that ARCAS has seen a drop in income from volunteers and students in recent weeks. Active bushfires are reported in Peten, Gutemala. Threatening the life of many animals and their natural habitat. Mangroves and wooded areas are being destroyed every minute. YOUR Donation will help us maintain our wildlife rescue and rehabilitation efforts going until this health crisis passes. Help us rehabilitate and release animals to the wild.

Solution

ARCAS is a non-profit NGO and relies entirely on the generous support of donors, volunteers and students from around the world. Currently, it is undergoing a crisis due to a loss in income from its volunteer and veterinary student program. Donations to this microproject will help ARCAS survive this crisis, allowing it to continue to fulfill its role rescuing and conserving endangered wildlife, and educating future generations to care for and appreciate this wildlife.

Long-Term Impact

ARCAS has been in existence for over 30 years, and this project will help it overcome the Coronavirus crisis, allowing it to continue to fulfill its mission of conserving endangered species and its habitat, preserving this rich legacy of Guatemala for future generations, as well as supporting ecotourism, birdwatching, handicrafts and other sustainable ways of taking advantage of this rich biodiversity without destroying it.
