COIVD19 is global pandemic and spreading at speed. If the infection reaches to underprivileged communities, we can only imagine the crisis as wildfire. The campaign will organize community-based network for protecting grassroots communities along Thai-Myanmar border against COVID19 because these communities are vulnerable and can amplify the pandemic. This campaign will provide prevention materials to 10,000 people along border areas including migrants and community-based healthcare workers.
COVID19 is reaching underprivileged communities. They include migrant communities, grassroots communities, and communities along the border areas. Since the businesses locked down in the cities of Thailand due to the growing infections, thousands of migrants and grassroots workers returned home across provinces and along the border. In the villages, there is the limitation of awareness, limitation of protection and prevention materials while thousands of returnees are flowing back in.
Regarding this emergency situation, we are launching the Little Communities Campaign for fighting against COVID19. The campaign will include 6 sessions 1. Production and distribution of masks in the communities by following the prevention standards 2. Production and distribution of hand sanitizers 4. Promotion of prevention awareness in the communities 5. Supporting community-based quarantine centers 6. Supporting healthcare workers at border areas.
Hundreds of thousands of grassroots people in border areas are the human resource for agriculture, service and manufacturing sectors of Thailand and Myanmar. They will be important resource for regional economic and social development if they are protected from pandemic. On contrary, this population can be very vulnerable to amplify the pandemic if they are not protected because most of their living situation is crowded. This campaign will protect 10,000 of this population and their communities.
