BEAM Education Foundation fosters social change in Myanmar and Thailand through education and mental wellness support for migrant youth. BEAM believes in empowering its students to promote resiliency, healing, and development in their local communities. The funds collected from this project will allow the hardworking people at BEAM to keep its programs up and running. Your generous donation can help teachers, social workers, administrative staff, volunteers, and most importantly, students.
About 4 million forcibly displaced migrants have left Myanmar to live in Thailand. Almost half of those migrants are children below the age of 18. The majority of these children have not received any form of education since leaving Myanmar, due to a severe lack of accredited schools in their new communities. Now, they seek education from severely underfunded, understaffed, and overcrowded migrant learning centers (MLCs) in Thailand. These MLCs turn to organizations like BEAM for help.
14 years ago, BEAM started working and never stopped. We are focused on helping migrant youth attend schools in border areas, gain vocational skills, participate in community development projects, access higher education with accredited testing, and more. We have also started to offer mental health support for affected individuals in migrant communities. We also advocate at all levels. Donating to BEAM can give a child the chance to unlock education access, empower and rebuild their communities.
Every year, BEAM gives more than 1000 students to continue their schooling every year. Additionally, through BEAM supports, over 200 students graduate from our vocational training program, and marginalized youth are graduating from universities in Thailand every year. You can be a changemaker where it matters most: in the heart of impacted communities. Creating positive, sustainable social change begins with education - and the education of thousands of students a year can begin with you.
