In rural Wakiso, Uganda, Thriving Youth Farmers Uganda (TYoFU) is empowering young farmers to transform agriculture into a pathway out of poverty and food insecurity. Yet, one simple barrier limits the impact of their efforts: the ability to share knowledge effectively with groups. Your support will provide a $500 projector, turning group trainings into engaging, hands-on learning sessions that equip young farmers with skills to increase yields, build livelihoods, and lead their communities.
TYoFU's youth-led programs already show promise, but without proper projection equipment, each training session is limited in scale and engagement. Currently, the TYoFU team works through the challenges of demonstrating new techniques, sharing instructional videos and information during trainings without a visual aid. Among the issues faced by Ugandan youth farmers, the lack of educational tools, such as a projector, undermines solutions such as TYoFU's training programs.
Through this microproject, TYoFU will be able to transform training sessions from passive demonstrations into highly engaging, group-based learning environments. The core barrier isn't the device itself; it's that visual teaching materials cannot currently be shared at scale, which limits how well youth understand and retain critical farming practices. This microproject will ensure TYoFU can deliver interactive, visually supported learning experiences that improve training outcomes.
A $500 projector is more than technology; it's a gateway to knowledge, confidence, and opportunity. It enables scalable training where youth farmers gain modern skills to boost productivity, income, and food security; women and vulnerable youth gain marketable skills; and knowledge multiplies as trained youth become trainers, seeding generational change and brighter agricultural futures across Wakiso.
