Thank you so much for contributing towards the project to care for traumatised chldren in Ukraine. We are delighted to inform you that our target was not only reached within our GlobalGiving project but also matched with offline gifts - giving us an incredible $20,000 in funds to develop a trauma care programme.
Here is an outline of our plans:.
- Stage 1 willbe a 2-3 day workshop session for our 3 Ukrainian partner organisations (based in the west, the centre, and the Donbass region in the east) introducing the key concepts of trauma care and providing the leaders with some tools they could look to use. This will involve around 10 leaders and take place in May or June
- Stage 2 would be a more intense training for caregivers (parents, foster parents, guardians) into trauma care
- Stage 3 would be long distance follow up via Skype
- A further element of the programme will be to include a trauma care workshop in our next Partners Conference (where we will gather together all of our partners). Here the Ukrainian partners will share their experience and successes of using the learnt techniques
In addition to all of the training provision, we will also supplement the existing programme of care for vulnerable children as a key element of trauma care is to build trust and relationship and often we may need to do this by meeting the immediate needs first.
Thank you for being a part of this new development and if you would like to hear more about the project then do contcat us at info@childaidee.org.uk.
