We started the computer class initiative at AFA 's Ananda residential centre for the kids in surrounding villages . The purpose is to enable them to be computer literate and gain skills that will help them in studies and later employment.
Though we expected a small bunch , we have received more than 40 kids already. The kids are energetic lot , keen to learn new things. For example Khushboo ( in Picture) has computer class in her school, however so far she has only been taught to switch the computer on and off. Here she is eager to try her hand at Paint, word processing. Her smile tells us that she already loves the place. We feel that a digitally literate youth will have access to several services now online. More importantly it will open the doors to knowledge.
As we have only few computers, the kids are divided into two batches over Saturday and Sunday. Still only 6 children can use computers at a time, others switch to theory classes. With your help we have added couple of more computers, and looking for support for more machines and teacher volunteers .
We are sure that You the donors will enable us to expand the infrastructure to effectively train the kids like Khushboo that have high hopes. Will keep you posted.
Sincerely yours and thanks again for your support.
