The Tousna Study Centre provides a quiet revision and study space for secondary school students in Asni, a town in the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains. Development of land infront of the centre will improve facilities for students through the introduction of a new outdoor recreation zone, offering a range of activities that support positive physical, emotional and social wellbeing.
Students in Asni studying for their exams have limited access to recreational facilities or an opportunity to be active outside. Participating in outdoor activities throughout the year and especially in the run-up to exams, can helps students to maintain a healthy balance and cope better with pressures and demands. Mental wellbeing is improved when students have an outdoor, breakout space to play, relax, socialise and enjoy healthy, quality time together.
By installing outdoor sports equipment such as table tennis, basketball and football nets on land adjacent to the Tousna Study Centre, more than 80 students using the facility each day will be able to participate in activities which improve their physical fitness. Efficient use of the space will encourage outdoor exercise and create a safe, fun environment for all users.
Engaging in regular outdoor activities that are fun and bring people together is fundamental to improving overall well-being. Simple adjustments to existing spaces can be transformative for young people and by developing this unused piece of land into a recreational activity hub, we will help to improve outcomes for students not just during exam time but in every day life.
