This microproject will transform an empty outdoor area into a safe, joyful playground for Yspaniola's kindergarten in Batey Libertad. It will give young children a place to play, move, and learn in healthy ways, while strengthening motor skills, social interaction, and emotional well-being. It will also improve the preschool environment for teachers, volunteers, and families who want children to grow in a space that feels safe, caring, and full of possibility.
Young children in Batey Libertad have very few safe, stimulating places to play. In communities affected by poverty and limited infrastructure, early childhood spaces are often under-resourced, and play is treated as a luxury rather than a critical part of learning and development. Our kindergarten serves children during one of the most important stages of growth, yet it currently lacks a small playground where they can move freely, strengthen motor skills, build confidence, and enjoy healthy so
Children in Yspaniola's kindergarten in Batey Libertad have no dedicated, safe outdoor place to play. In a community with limited child-friendly infrastructure, this means fewer opportunities for movement, exploration, and social interaction. Without a playground, children miss an important part of early childhood development that supports motor skills, confidence, joy, and healthy learning.
A safe playground will strengthen early childhood development by supporting physical activity, socialization, and emotional well-being. It will improve the quality of Yspaniola's preschool environment and give children a joyful place to grow through play. Over time, it will become a lasting asset for families and a visible investment in dignified, child-centered learning in Batey Libertad.
