Pushed by financial difficulties, Fathers House orphanage, in Muyuka, Cameroon, has moved to a new location. They are now in their own house, which they have been gradually constructing for years. The house is not finished yet, and water can only be drawn from a simple well. This With this project you can bring potable water to a house of 25 children and teenagers. This project will provide for the construction of a simple borehole in the orphanage.
The available water in the house is not potable, and since there are not enough staff, children walk for a mile to get water every day, which gets quickly finished. Now the raining season is finishing, and during dry season is going to get worse. Even cleaning water will have to be carried from far. As the quality of drinking water reduces, children are vulnerable to water-borne diseases such as typhoid or simple diarrhea. This could affect life-time development of the children.
The orphanage has plans to build a bore-hole to provide clean water and has identified a relatively cheap way of doing it. But, hardly able to meet up with their daily expenses, they cant invest in this project, and the childrens access to water is in danger. They need your help. You can put a bore-hole in Fathers House orphanage before the core of dry season comes.
The impact of water-borne diseases in early-childhood development is well documented. Children who drink clean water grow better and faster, they become more healthy and even more successful adults. By supporting this project, you are making sure the 25 children of the orphanage have a better chance to compete in the world, and that the orphanage is the house this children (and the hundreds that will come) deserve.
