As Baark! celebrates the momentous milestone of 40,000 spay and neuter surgeries across The Bahamas, we're ready to kickstart the next chapter. But our work is far from done, and thousands of animals still need our help. This project will fund vital spay and neuter surgeries that reduce animal suffering, prevent unwanted litters, and create healthier communities throughout The Bahamas. Every donation to this special microproject will be matched, doubling your impact for animals in need.
The Bahamas is facing an ongoing dog and cat overpopulation crisis. Every day, thousands of unwanted puppies and kittens are born into lives of neglect, abandonment, or suffering, placing enormous pressure on communities, animal welfare groups, and limited veterinary resources. Spay and neuter is the only proven long-term solution to break this cycle.
This microproject will fund essential spay and neuter surgeries for owned and community animals across The Bahamas, preventing countless unwanted litters before they are born. Alongside every clinic, Baark! provides free education to pet owners and the wider community, promoting responsible pet ownership, animal welfare, and the long-term benefits of spaying and neutering.
Spay and neuter creates lasting change. One unspayed female dog and her offspring can produce up to 67,000 puppies in just six years, while one unspayed female cat and her offspring can produce well over 100,000 kittens in five years. By combining high-volume spay and neuter with ongoing community education, this project will reduce animal suffering, create healthier pet populations, and build safer, more compassionate communities across The Bahamas.
