Dear Donor,
Thanks to your donation to our microprojects, the Afghan Institute of Learning (AIL) has been able to purchase 16 new sewing machines for use in 8 of its Learning Centers in 4 provinces.
The AIL Kabul office oversees 3 of the centers and distributed the machines. Two machines went to a center in Parwan Province , another 2 to a center in Wardak Province with the final 2 going to Bamyan Province. All three of these centers have been supported by AIL for a number of years, and all three are well respected in their community for being safe places for women to gather and learn. The AIL Herat Office oversees the other 5 centers in Herat Province that received machines this time. All have thriving sewing classes which are often one of the most popular subjects offered. Women often remark what a difference being able to sew has made in their lives one student said recently, “ I learned sewing in 6 months at the center. Before coming here I was broke now I have my own business. I work at home sewing and I do jobs for people and get paid for it!”
Thank you again for your donations. Being able to replace the broken sewing machines means that AIL will be able to continue teaching the women in these centers a valuable skill which allows them to earn an income, and help support their family. Without your help, these new sewing machines would not have been possible. Thank you.
