Summary

On 8 July, the Russian army fired a missile at the largest pediatric hospital in Ukraine, the National Specialized Children's Hospital in Kyiv - Ohmatdyt. The hospital itself was destroyed, as well as many expensive pieces of equipment, and many patients were injured. The funds raised will help purchase new equipment and help restore the hospital's operations.

Challenge

Ohmatdyt provides services to more than 20,000 people annually and is the largest children's hospital in Ukraine. It is a unique hospital that provided services that were not available in other medical institutions. It nursed newborns weighing 500 grams, performed all types of allogenic bone marrow transplantation, and conducted aero medical evacuations. Restoring the hospital is critically important for all Ukrainians.

Solution

It will take a lot of time and money to rebuild the hospital, purchase new equipment, and help the victims (patients and medical staff). That is why the National Network of Local Philanthropy Development, together with Ohmadyt's partner, the Podilska Hromada Community Foundation, are launching a fundraising campaign to rebuild the hospital. Your funds and information dissemination will contribute to the hospital's faster recovery.

Long-Term Impact

Prior to the tragedy, the hospital performed more than 10,000 unique and highly complex surgeries annually, and served more than 20,000 people each year. We hope that the hospital will be restored and will continue to provide unique services for children and adults in Ukraine. The long-term impact is that there will be more healthy people in Ukraine who will be cured thanks to the modern equipment, expert doctors and innovative technologies at this hospital.
