This project will train 10 women from Panama's most vulnerable communities on topics of GBV awareness and prevention to transfer the message to 750 members of their communities. The implementation includes organizing, selecting and training the women in psycho-emotional and effective communication skills, and GBV prevention messaging and tools. This is a community-level prevention and educational program powered through Calicanto's network of active CAPTA (Training for Work Program) graduates.
The public health crisis and social isolation have amplified the uncertainty, placing many women's livelihoods at risk. Due to the crisis we have observed that 70% of our female alumni network have either increased their vulnerability due to recent inequalities or relapsed due to risk factors within their environment. Many of these risk factors are directly related to gender based violence. This project provides a training platform for 10 women to educate and raise their voice against GBV.
Agents of Change is a community-level GBV prevention and educational program powered through Calicanto's network of 350 active CAPTA (Training for Work Program) female alumni from Panama. The project leverages the women's personal and professional experience while providing a space for them to promote bottom-up social changes in their communities. The people they influence are also encouraged to share their new knowledge with others.
The project will train 10 women allowing them to further seek leadership representation in their communities, which will provide for a more equal female participation. The project will also educate a minimum of 750 people on gender based violence which will provide for better informed and healthier communities.
