Together, Ford and GlobalGiving have put $100 million into the hands of nonprofits around the world.
When María, a student in Madrid, first joined a workshop run by AIPC PANDORA, she thought innovation was only for tech companies. By the end, she was sketching solutions for her neighborhood and dreaming bigger about her role in it.
Her story is one of thousands that have unfolded quietly and powerfully thanks to a partnership that’s now almost 15 years in the making.
This year, Ford and GlobalGiving reached a major milestone: $100 million granted to organizations fueling solutions to some of the world’s toughest challenges.
From aiding in disaster recovery in Spain, to making hot meals for students in Thailand, to hosting safe driving programs for expecting mothers in the Philippines, Ford’s commitment has one steady throughline: sustained support that reaches communities when and where it’s needed most.
“This partnership speaks volumes about the power of supporting nonprofit partners who understand what their communities need the most,” says Mary Culler, president of Ford Philanthropy.
“Reaching $100 million is an incredible achievement – but the true measure is how Ford brings the full power of Ford Motor Company – our employees, our dealers, our vehicles – together to have the greatest impact.”
It’s also about long-term vision. For more than 15 years, Ford has stayed the course, choosing to invest in resilience, not quick fixes. That trust has fueled creativity, dignity, and strength in communities worldwide—and it’s setting the stage for the next generation of change.
Since one of Ford’s earliest GlobalGiving grants in 2009, which helped build the giving donation page that now connects thousands of Ford employees to grassroots projects after disasters, Ford has steadily expanded its reach.
After an earthquake in Turkey in 2011, Ford directed disaster relief through GlobalGiving, which has since expanded and helped provide aid to global communities in times of crisis, like in Mexico, Ukraine, Brazil.
Ford’s partnership with GlobalGiving now spans continents, sectors, and approaches:
Across continents, Ford support programs that strengthen communities in multiple ways. Whether it’s mobilizing employees to tackle urgent local needs, creating hubs that bring nonprofits together to collaborate and innovate, or teaching life-saving skills through safe driving initiatives.
Across continents, these programs combine resources, expertise, and long-term commitment to make meaningful, lasting impact.
Ford’s approach has always been about vision, not quick fixes. Many of the organizations in this network are repeat grantees, demonstrating Ford’s belief in long-term relationships and the power of sustained investment. This trust-based model allows local leaders not only to respond in times of crisis, but also to build resilience for the future.
“Ford saw early on that the future of philanthropy lies in listening to and investing deeply in local leadership,” says GlobalGiving CEO Victoria Vrana.
“Ford’s commitment to fueling solutions—from disaster relief to programs that teach life-saving skills—shows what’s possible when you trust local leaders to guide the work.”
From safe driving lessons in Manila to student-led changemaking in Madrid, these stories—and many more—are proof of the ripple effects $100 million can set in motion. They show how Ford’s visionary approach has fueled creativity, dignity, and strength in communities worldwide.
