Empowering 250 Young Women in Nigeria

The Women Inspirational Development Center plans to provide agency-based empowerment to 250 young women from Nigeria who, following completion of secondary school, work the streets due to lack of employment or further education prospects. This project minimizes the risks these young women face while on the street and taps into their full potential to create a new life through i) academic guidance for university admission or ii) education in marketable skills to create their own small business.

Irida: Safe space for 650 women at risk in Greece

IRIDA supports refugee, migrant & local women who are among the most vulnerable during the Covid-19 pandemic. We are a community of 500 members from 37 countries. We provide individualized psycho-social support, protection services, legal counseling, based on our members' unique needs. We give the opportunity to refugee and asylum-seeking women to develop their skills and access language & literacy classes, employability training, recreational activities, and a strong community network.

Help Young Women Break the Glass Ceiling in Nepal!

Women LEAD plans to deliver professional development workshops and professional mentoring for young, aspiring women leaders in Nepal. Women LEAD will also provide young women with seed funding to implement their own community advocacy projects which challenge traditional attitudes and norms that are preventing young women from achieving their potential.

Build Community through Sport for Girls in Jordan

We create safe and inclusive spaces for over 200 local and refugee girls ages 6-18 in Jordan to thrive by playing sports, working with coaches, and building community. Through soccer, basketball, and frisbee programming in Amman and Zarqa, Reclaim Childhood uses the power of sport and play to help participants make new friends across nationalities, develop new skills, and just be kids in a world that offers them few opportunities to do so.

Support Women Building Lives Free from Violence

Gender violence is a painful reality for women and girls in Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay. The lack of basic services and limited access to rapid and vital assistance put them at constant risk. Grassroots organizations, generally based in remote locations, work as first responders in their communities, saving lives. They provide legal and psychosocial support, deliver training courses, disseminate information, sustain women's shelter and hotlines, and advocate for their rights.

How our community selects nonprofits for the Girl Fund

The GlobalGiving community is home to hundreds of nonprofit partners accelerating gender equality around the world. Each March, as International Women's Day approaches, we invite those organizations to compete for a year-long spot in the GlobalGiving Girl Fund.

The eight organizations that win the most support from GlobalGiving donors and peers through our annual Girl Fund Campaign will earn a place in the fund for the next year.

How do I join the GlobalGiving Girl Fund?

To join the GlobalGiving Girl Fund as a monthly donor, enter the monthly amount you would like to give in the box at the top of the page. Then click the orange “DONATE” button and complete your transaction on our checkout page. In order to complete your monthly donation, you’ll need to enter a password to create an account on GlobalGiving, which will allow you to manage your Girl Fund giving and track your donations. You can pay for your monthly donation with a credit card (including Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express), PayPal, or ApplePay.

How can my favorite nonprofit join the GlobalGiving Girl Fund?

The first step is for the organization to submit an application to join GlobalGiving. If your favorite organization has already joined the community, let the organization know that you’re eager to support them in GlobalGiving’s March Girl Fund Campaign where they could earn a year-long spot in the Girl Fund.

When will I be charged for my monthly donation?

Once you complete your transaction, your card will be charged this amount immediately, and then will automatically be charged the same amount on the same day of each month going forward. For instance, if you set up your monthly donation on January 20th, then all future donations will post to your credit card on the 20th of each subsequent month until you cancel your monthly donation.

How do I change the amount of my monthly donation?

Through your GlobalGiving profile, you can easily change the amount of your monthly Girl Fund donation. In the top right corner of the website, select the profile icon (or log in). Under “My Profile,” choose the “Donations” tab and find the monthly donation you wish to change. Changes will take effect with your next regularly scheduled monthly payment.

I need to change the credit card I am using for my monthly donation. How do I do that?

Go to the Recurring Donations section of your GlobalGiving profile, select “Edit/Update Billing Info.” You can enter new credit card/billing information here.

Will I receive a tax receipt when my credit card is charged each month?

When you set up your monthly Girl Fund donation, you will be charged for the first month’s payment, and will receive a receipt at that time. You will receive a receipt after the initial transaction, but not after each subsequent monthly donation. However, through your GlobalGiving account, you can access your donation history at any time and get a snapshot of your total donations made to date. And, in January of the coming year, we will email you an aggregated receipt for tax purposes reflecting all of your donations during the year.

How do I cancel my monthly Girl Fund donation?

No strings attached! Cancel any time. Girl Fund donors make a big difference for the projects they support, so we hope you’ll choose to keep giving. However, if you wish to cancel your Girl Fund monthly donation, you can do this through your GlobalGiving account. If you terminate your monthly donation and wish to restart it, simply go through the process described above to set up a new monthly donation. All donations are backed by GlobalGiving Guaranteed.
