On the 1st July 2023, we will be co-hosting a celebration of Venezuela in London.
Over 14 years ago I had the opportunity to live in Venezuela and since that time, it's a country that has stayed close to my heart. The people, the kindness, their spirit (and of course the food and beaches!) were just some of the things that made me fall in love with this country.
Today, the Venezuela I see in the media is not the Venezuela I remember, and this event not only serves as a way of showing people the true and beautiful side of Venezuela that I had the privilege of experiencing, but it serves as a way to raise funds to help people directly in Venezuela that genuinely need our support.
Each week, 5 to 6 children in Venezuela die of malnutrition and a recent analysis revealed that 30% of children presented chronic malnutrition, and an overall staggering 54% of children in Venezuela suffer from some form of nutritional deficiency. Furthermore, when it comes to education, over 1.5 million children and adolescents now fall outside of the educational system.
As little as £8 can provide food to teachers, who pay for their own students' school materials to try and keep them in education. As little as £26 can support 5 families with a supply of non perishable foods. Any donation, whatever the amount, is a generous donation, and it will change lives.
And so, for this fundraiser, all funds raised through your donations and on the day of the event, will go directly to helping families, children, students and teachers with food and educational support via the charity of choice, Coromoto 2020.
To date, they have helped over 90 000 families and this event will help them towards their target of supporting 3393 students, 349 teachers and 200 000 families.
If you are able to join our event, then we look forward to welcoming you, but even if you cannot make it, you can still make a difference here with a donation.
Que el amor sea mas fuerte que el hambre. Let love be more powerful than hunger.
Thank you in advance everyone!
