Mission

The Hungarian Helsinki Committee (HHC) is a leading human rights watchdog based in Budapest, Hungary, founded in 1989. We believe in a fair and just world, where equality is not a theory for a few, but a lived experience for all. In our theory of change we focus our efforts to defend (1) the right to asylum and international protection; (2) democratic values, the rule of law and a strong civil society; and (3) the rights of detainees and the fairness of the criminal justice system.
