Support Destiny to finish her education

The mission of Juhudi children is to see these vulnerable children and girls pursue their education and achieve their desired goals. Having rescued a few of the girls which were at risk of dropping of the school due to poverty and negligence by their parents. We have seen there is more need since a lot of girls are out of school now and they need our support. We need to take them back to school and pay their school fees, exam fee, food and other many necessities. I want to thank our able donors who have come in handy to support this girls and children. We really appreciate for your anonymous contributions towards our projects.

I therefore, wish to share a story of this girl called Destiny. She is 17 years old from a poor background family where her parents cannot afford to pay for her school fees. It was just this year when we were doing our survey in the schools where we have our beneficiaries. This where the school principal narrated to us this girl. We found that the girl is very intelligent and determine on her studies as per the performance in school and has a very huge fee balance which her parents can’t afford to pay for her to complete her secondary education. We followed up and meet her parents at their home. We found that the poverty level of the family was very high. They had no any source of income to sustain the family. Her parents’ works as laborers in the farms of the rich people.

After long discussion with the girl and her parents we agreed to support the girl fully to pursue her education. It was like a surprise to the parents and the girl. The girl didn’t hide to expressed her joy; “Am very happy for this golden support I have received from Juhudi children, who have never dreamt that one day I will be supported to finish my education. Am now determined to work extra hard to achieve my goals and rescue my parents from poverty. May almighty God bless Juhudi children and give them funds so that they can support other girls like who are suffering out there.”

We look forward to share with you on the progress of Destiny all through her education journey. As Juhudi we believe in her and hope that she will come out as successful girl who will help other girls in the community forever.

Building trust and inspiring children for future

Building trust and inspiring children for future

Juhudi children in Crisis recently completed another impactful year of feeding more children in school. With your help, we provided hundreds of children with the food, playing materials, and material resources necessary to ensure bright futures for the children. As a result, more children were enrolled in the program on track for success in school and beyond.

Clare and Joy comprise just one of the children who benefited from the program this year. Clare is 5 years old living with a single mother while Joy is 6 years old who was adopted by one of the community members after her parents died from HIV/AIDS. The two children are now happy in the school. We believe that we will support fully up to the end to be in school and get good nutritional food and other necessary materials that will make them grow healthy.

Although we are thankful for the ability to help so many of Cherangany’s most vulnerable children, there are many more opportunities to grow. One in four children under age 5 is orphan or lives with one parent. Even more startling is the reality that nearly 50% of children born to single parents at the lowest income level are the squatters. In 2017, during the post election violence many people died especially men living many homes to be single. Many people also got displaced from their homeland.

At Juhudi children, we know that our program/projects is making a difference and with the need so great, we are positioned to serve many more children with your help. We say thank you so much for your generous support you always give us.

Kadesa becomes source of inspiration

Kadesa, is an seventeen-year-old girl who has benefitted from the activities and programmes offered by the project. Her family includes herself, her mother, three siblings and her Unlce. Her mother work as laborer at neighborhood, where she works a gardener. Kadesa forced to discontinue her education to take care of her three siblings who are in the 11th, 9th and 7th standards respectively. However, Kadesa was reluctant to return to school to study with children who are much younger than her.

The project team met Kadesa when conducting a survey in her community. She was offered help to re-join school, however upon voicing her hesitation, she was instead offered the option of joining the beauty and hair dressing course which she accepted. Kadesa has been using these new cosmetology skills to find paid work for the last seven months weaving and braiding neighbors and earning respect of her family and community whilst doing so.

“I learnt a lot from other girls who were learning with me,” Kadesa explains. “I learnt the way to talk and behave and this changed my personality. Now I dress up neatly and properly and I tend my hair properly too. In the past I was not very tidy about it. Staying back at my house, I could have never been able to speak so well. I feel that a lot of my aspirations have been fulfilled. I have a feeling that I can do something and today I am able to earn on my own. This helps me to live life happily.”

Today Kadesa thinks that she will not have to endure the arduous work her mother had to. She says “thanks to the beauty and hair dressing course, I will be able to earn by putting in less efforts than my mother. I will not face problems travelling places. My family includes me in the decision-making process and when getting me married, they will surely take my views into consideration.”
