The Fred Hollows Foundation (FHF) is a leading eye health organization focused on addressing preventable blindness. Four out of five people who are blind, don't need to be and 80% of cases are treatable of preventable. Eye diseases like cataract, trachoma, diabetic retinopathy and uncorrected refractive errors can all lead to blindness. We work to prevent or treat these devastating diseases in some of the poorest parts of the world. FHF was established 28 years ago in honor of Professor Fred Hollows, an Australian eye surgeon and social justice advocate, to carry out Fred's vision that no person should be needlessly blind or vision impaired.
