We aim to improve the living conditions of economically poor and socially disadvantaged individuals, and our projects seek to ensure improved and sustainable access to basic resources (water, infrastructure, education, health, etc.) by involving the beneficiary communities in these projects. At GROWTH, we believe that the best way to make a real and lasting difference in people's lives is to empower communities to achieve the change they want to see in themselves and in their communities. GROWTH promotes the progress of resilient and democratic communities. In the first phase of all our projects we help develop community consensus through collective decision making, public engagements and dialogue. We truly believe that an end to poverty requires inclusive and sustainable growth, defending and promoting free, peaceful and resilient communities, building human capital and creating social safety nets that reach the poorest and most vulnerable. It is GROWTH's unique and organic method of strengthening community discussion and decision making that drives the coordination of the project towards the community's development potential. Piura Project The Piura Project aims to improve the living conditions of the communities affected by the "El Nino Costero" phenomenon in 2017, which triggered heavy rains causing overflows, floods and downpours in Peru and in particular in the Piura region. Our mission is to support these affected communities so that they can not only improve their living conditions but are also able to find the necessary strength and hope to work on a common project. Objectives This project will directly benefit approximately 1300 people and its implementation will improve, not only the living conditions in their communities, but it will also create a sense of resilience and organizational capacity that will promote their future development possibilities. There are three key focus areas or workstreams that the Piura Project has targeted: Community Spaces Sanitation and Pre-School Education. Strategy and proposed duration of the project Phase 1 Engagements with beneficiary families and an assessment of their needs. Training on the planning and development of the community project with involvement of the community in its entirety. Phase 2 The community, with the support of GROWTH and the local authorities, carry out the designed project with the beneficiaries being the main actors in the process. Phase 3 GROWTH monitors the progress of the project, whilst maintaining the principle of collaboration with local authorities and the beneficiaries themselves. The communities involved make a commitment to carry out an evaluation of the actions taken by periodically monitoring the project over a period of five years. The duration of the Piura project is approximately 7 months (212 days).
