Summary

At Health Equity International (HEI, formerly SBHF), we give patients the care they need and deserve, even in times of crisis. That's why we're making sure St. Boniface Hospital (SBH) is prepared for hurricane season. Although the coming months may bring floods, power outages, and road blocks, HEI will keep our doors open, no matter what, serving a population of 2.3 million. Your support will help HEI prepare for its role as a center of care and disaster relief for the people of southern Haiti.

Challenge

For Haiti, a country that struggles with poverty, political unrest, and inadequate infrastructure, hurricane season can be devastating. When disaster strikes, hospitals like SBH must be available for patients in need, providing emergency care as well as essential routine services. Amid this year's hurricane season, Haiti is also contending with ongoing political unrest and supply shortages. Now, more than ever, we must be prepared to keep our doors open, regardless of what storms rage outside.

Solution

HEI has now faced nearly four full years of constant crises, and we've weathered them by being prepared. Your support will help HEI buy essential medications and supplies, repair hospital buildings, and train staff in emergency preparedness. Together, we can get through whatever hurricane season brings. HEI has a proven track record of operating throughout natural disasters, periods of unrest, and other challenging times, from the 2010 earthquake to 2016's Hurricane Matthew.

Long-Term Impact

Supporting HEI right now means providing life-saving care today and investing in the future of health in Haiti. With your help, HEI will make sure that patients don't have to sacrifice essential medical care during an emergency. When patients have access to immediate care, they recover faster and suffer fewer long-term complications. HEI also serves as a regional hub for long-term strengthening of Haiti's healthcare system in the aftermath of disasters, leading relief and recovery efforts.
