Apertura DALUZ COVID-19

We wanted to continue providing updates on DALUZ in these difficult times.

We are happy to annouce that with the new COVID 19 related regulations outlined by the Costa Rican government and the guidelines of the Equestrian Federation of Costa Rica, we have made the decision to reopen the DALUZ facilities after having to be closed the month of April.

Attached is the communication sent to all the parents / guardians of the children according to the measures and that are being carried out in the classes. We have also included some photos of the students this week during classes so you can see how we are moving forward with new protective measures.

During the month that we were closed, we set up an programs with the families of the children of the Foundation, giving them tools, to learn and continue therapies as best as possible from home and to implement the skills learned in Equine Therapy at DALUZ.

I want to thank you so much for your support in bringing LIGHT to these children, through tools that they can apply in their daily lives. Thanks for your support. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

February 2020 Update DALUZ Vivencias Equinas

Dear Sponsors,
We wanted to thank you so much for the support we received in the campaign to send 5 athletes to Special Olympics that we did in December through the GlobalGiving platform.
Thank you all for you generous contributions, as a result of reaching our preliminary fundraising goal, we were officially approved and added to the GlobalGiving website long term which allows us to continue growing the DALUZ Foundation and helping more people through Equine Therapy.
Over the last two months we have continued training riders through working on physical, cognitive, social, emotional and sensory needs. At the beginning of 2020, we held sessions with parents and / or family caregivers to discuss the goals that were achieved in 2019 and set concrete goals for this year. The goals are divided into two parts:
1) Personal at home pertaining to day-to-day skills that they would like us to work through equine therapy; for example dressing alone, holding a spoon just to eat, moving from the wheelchair to a chair at home, among others.
2) Part two involves more concrete objectives in equine therapy, for example: balance of staying seated independently on the horse, managing to communicate with the horse in an effective way, overcoming fears and insecurities, among others. Each of these goals are taken into account when the instructors do their weekly class planning and are analyzed session by session, monthly, and quarterly.
It has been amazing to see the students come back from vacation to their clases and filled with joy of riding and working towards these goals the last two months.
We have a video (with English subtitles) made providing an update on the DALUZ Foundation where two students comment on their experience in the time they have been receiving Equine Therapy in DALUZ. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qckBbIcWmk4&t=4s
I have also attached some photos from our Christmas End of the Year Event.
We know that this 2020 is full of challenges and joys for DALUZ students and we invite you to continue being part of giving LIGHT to others through the horse by offering tools that can be applied to their day to day lives.
Thank you so much for your donation!
