CONSTITUTION OF THE INDUSTRIAL WORKERS OF THE WORLD KABALE -UGANDA Here after referred to as a community Based Organisaation(CBO) NAME OF THE ORGANISATION: The Organisation shall be called Industrial Workers of the World Kabale-Uganda. Objective of the Organisation (CBO) The objective of the CBO shall be: 1.To recruit members of the working class into the CBO. 2.To search for employment of their choice and qualifications the members of the working class. 3.To promote and protect the interests of the members of the working class. 4.To promote education, cultural and general well being of members and none members of the organization. 5.To fight for rights of all whether members or none members. 6.Any other objective that may be deemed necessary for the members and none members. MEMBERSHIP 1.Membership is open to all members of the working class of age 18 years and above except persons whose employment is in the armed forces such as Police,Military,Army,Prisons officers and the like. 2.No person shall be discriminated against or denied membership based on gender,race,religious,political beliefs,sexual orientation,ethnicity,colour,social or economic status. 3.Applicant to membership of the CBO shall agree with the constitution/Laws of the CBO 4.A person employing 3 or more people shall not be considered a member. 5.Members shall pay one time membership fee and a monthly fee that will be agreed on by two thirds of members attending the Annual general meeting. 6.A member or members who shall no longer agree with the Constitution shall vacate and their dues refunded if any. 7.Conflicts between members shall be by arbitration provided by a volunteer committee of the CBO. 8.Each member shall be free to ask for and access information pertaining to the performance and accounts of the CBO. LOCATION OF THE CBO The CBO shall originally be based in Kigongi Ward,Central Division,Kabale Municipality Kabale District but free to re -allocate offices to any part of Kabale Municipality. ADMINISTATION: 1.The administration of the CBO shall be based on daily purpose on an Elected Treasurer who shall serve as Secretary and Chairman. 2.There shall be an Executive Board.The General Secretary/Treasurer,the Chariman and the Board shall all be elected by members of the CBO.The board shall consist of 5 people. 3.Their term of Office shall be 2 years. 4.The duties of the General Secretary/Treasurer shall be to keep the books and accounts/funds of the CBO as well as general daily running of the CBO.She/He shall be paid a stipend to enable her/him perform her/his duties. Shall manage all correspondences and seal them with the seal of the CBO.There shall be annual audit of account/s of the CBO. 5.The treasurer/Secretary shall report and make monthly reports to the Executive Board and help in implementations of decisions of the board or members. 6.The Board shall select their chairperson. 7.The Chairman of the CBO shall be responsible for chairing and organizing of the CBO's meeting. 8.Charges against any officer by any member shall be handled by the Board and or General Annual meeting or through conflict resolution/arbitration committee. Any officer found not appropriate to continue office shall be asked by the Board to resign and the board elects a member to serve in acting position until election of new office bearer. 9.The calendar year of the CBO shall end on June 30th of the year. 10.The annual general meeting shall be held on 30th of March of each year. Amendment to the constitution if any shall be at Annual general meeting and by two thirds of the members in attendance. All parts of of the constitution conflicting with amendments ratified by a referendum vote are hereby declared null and void. THE MANNER OF DISSOLVING THE ORGANISATION. The organization shall be dissolved by the majority two thirds of the members sitting at the Annual general meeting and assets of the organization shall be sold by auction and funds shall be committed to the completion of projects that could have been started and not completed by the CBO at the time and or contributed to any community partner organization(s).
