The Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County provide wrap-around services for our over 1,000 members in all areas of life: academic, social, emotional, and health. This project supports our commitment to academic achievement by providing members with homework assistance, reading remediation, and math engagement. Our young learners love to use the computers to learn and we have been integrating new programs to assist this.
For math, members utilize a web-based program called Khan Academy. Khan offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. By incorporating Khan Academy we guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps.
In addition, we recently partnered with Everfi. EVERFI's digital curricula empower our staff teams to bring critical skills education into their lessons. The interactive, game-based lessons help prepare students for success in the real world. Our members are loving this new component of learning and we love we can assess progress effectively through pre- and post-tests as well as offline activities to support their learning.
Thank you for continuing to support our young members. Your donations help us maintain a high level of programs in all areas, especially academics.

Thank you for supporting our STEAMBotics Academy!
By Karen Englert - Director, Resource Development
Members, parents, and community supporters recently particpted in the Spirit of St. Louis Air Show in St. Louis. This annual 3-day event welcomed over 25,000 attendees. Our team's booth stayed busy as we had three of our robots there to engage with visitors. Our members loved the experience and are so proud they were able to showcase their work. The air show brings in the community to celebrate leaders in flight, design, and technology.
In addition, two of members were recognized at the special Wings of Hope Reception on Friday eving with the Blue Angels. These members continue to represent the STEAMBotics Academy to the community, helping people understand everything from design to competitions.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles was also recently recognized for our STEAMBotics Program with an amazing gift from Amazon. Amazon, a true leader in technology, noted our programs provide a basic introduction into STEM for young learners, hands on experience in coding and modeling, and competition experiences designed to promote problem-solving, leadership, and innovation.
We are so thankful for the continued support of this program. It is our hope to expand it to our O'Fallon location by next year so that even more young members can explore STEAM.

Avoiding the Summer Slump
By Karen Englert - Director of Resource Development
Summer is a busy time at the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County. We provide a 10-week Summer Blast program designed to help our members maintain strong academic skills, engage in more outdoor play, and enjoy special field trips and events. Academic success continues to be a focus area for both locations. Each day members spend time in the learning center, computer lab, or STEM lab to work on academic fundamentals especially reading. We know the summer is often a time of regression in academics, therefore, we work to help members maintain and improve in these areas. Thanks to donor support we have been able to purchase a 3-d printer, new books, additional licenses for the reading software, and more engaging games. The kids are loving the Summer Blast program and we are happy to see a solid mix of learning, problem-solving, interactive play, and creativity.
