Project (32961)- Progress Report

Our school is spending about $ 80,000 every year for meeting various type of expenses such as providing education, food, transport, uniform, medical facility and also for disbursement of salary to the staff members and to meet other maintenance expenditure. Expenses of the same to be received from well wishers and donors.

Project completed:

1. Full pledged New Physiotherapy Unit " T.Ramalaxmi Sudhakar Prabhu".

2. New Unit started exclusively for Deaf and Dumb students.

3. New Sensory Intigration Room inaugurated.

Pending project to be completed:

          For uplifting these special children to the main stream of the society following project is under progress.

1. A Unit of Early Intervension and Early Stimulation by identifing disability  in  small children and proving treatment in early stage.

2. A Mobile Unit for Rural area to educate the people for giving treatment.

3. Marketing for various Handicrafts prepared by our students.

Project Peport of speech therapy unit



    Project Peport for speech therapy unit for disabled students (42820)- Progress Report

Child has a speech disability that includes trouble i pronouncing words speech therapy may help improve language development, communications & Pragmatic language skills. Speech therapy is an intervention service that focus on improving a child speech and ability to understand and express language.

           Our Special School is situated in Taluk Head Quarter (Semi Urban) and most of the students are from remote rural area and also from below poverty line. We are providing free education along with food, uniform, transportation and other basic need. for the benefit of physical disability students. we have already built one full pledged Physiotherapy unit which was started functioning since Nov. 2019.

           In order to be disorders to be considered a disability it must demonstrate an adverse effect on the childs educational  performance speech and language service are considered part of special education in that they are designed to meet the unique needs of the child at no cost to the parent.

work is under progress almost 70% of the work is completed. Required instruments to installed very soon. Due to Covid-19 now we are not receiving expected financial assistance from our well wishers. However we are trying our level best to complete the said project before Nov. 2020. We seek and request to you to make the project success with your co-operation. Alternatively we will full fill our cherished goal to bring these students to the main stream of the society.

Joining hands in bringing Alround Welfare of Differently abled Children.

                   Decades earlier there was no proper education facility available for mentally and physically disabled children in the society. Now Government has initiated several steps for giving proper education facility to uplift the disabled children in the society. Bharathi Seva Mandali Trust Karkala has started the special school in Karkala Taluk of Udupi District in the year 2004 and named it as “Chethana Special School”, with the sole intension of upliftment of special children to the main stream of society. The School initially started with 16 mentally and physically challenged children with the whole hearted support and accommodation provided by the management of Sri. Vekataramana Temple Karkala in the premises of S.V.T Primary School. The management of the school is very much grateful for their kind gesture.

                 Since 2011 our special school is having its own building built at cost of Rs. 3 Corers in half an acre of land near Sri.Krishna Kshethra, Anekere, Karkala donated by Borkatte Hegde family. The management of the school is also very much grateful for this family. Due to the dedication of management, staff members, advisory committee members and also support of valued donors & well wishers the school is now giving education for 80 differently abled special children with autism, mentally disabled, down syndrome, deaf and dumb and blindness. The school is giving proper education, food, transport and uniform facility at free of cost.

 Academic particulars :

                      At present there are 10 specially trained teaching staff, 1 Physiotherapist and 9 non teaching staff members being working in the school. 80 mentally and physically disabled children are provided proper education with MDPS (Medras Development Programme System) under the revised evaluation of NIMH Secundarabad. There are 8 classes for the students under Pre-primary and Secondary divisions. After completion of Secondary division eligible students are given special training for appearing SSLC examination. In the classroom children are being trained in daily activities, self introduction, identification of articles, learning & writing, time seeing, money identification, social obligations, language study and home activities etc depending on their intelligence. Apart from this children are also being given necessary training in Yoga, Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy , Music, Dance, Yakshagana, Physical education, Computer class, Tailoring class and Vocational training (Preparation of cloth bags, paper bags, artificial flowers, yakshagana face masks etc.)

For uplifting these special children to the main stream of the society we propose the following project for the year 2019-20.

1.          Inauguration of Full pledged Physiotherapy Unit.

2.           A unit of early intervention and early stimulation by identifying disability in small children and  

              providing treatment in early stage.

 3.            A Mobile medical unit for educating the people and giving treatment in rural areas.

 4.            Marketing for various handicrafts prepared by our special children.

 5.            New Speech Therapy unit for disabled children.

 6.            New school play ground for physical training and encouragement of sports and games.


Project Completed in the year 2019-20:

1.            Full Fledged New Physiotherapy Unit ” T Ramalaxmi Sudhakar Prabhu” inaugurated on 


2.            Separate New Unit for Deaf & Dumb students inaugurated on 13.07.2019.

3.            New Sensory Intigration room inaugurated on 13.07.2019.       


Estimation for proposed new units:

1.Compound Wall, Play ground and Gardening:

               Our school building is situated adjacent to state highway bypass road. We propose to construct compound wall to the school building to ensure safety for special children and also a play ground/ gardening for physical training and encourage need of sports for our students. The estimated cost of project is aboutRs.16,70,000.00


2.School Bus:

               Six years back Corporation Bank has donated a vehicle to our School for transportation of students. Now the existing vehicle is not enough for   transportation of the   students from remote areas.   Hence, we need one more new vehicle to render better service for transportation of deserved students for fulfilling our goal to uplift students to bring main stream of the society. The total cost of the Tempo Traveller 26+1 seater school bus will be around Rs. 16,41,000.00

3. Computer Lab:

               To bring main stream of the society to these disabled children we need one computer lab for providing computer education to them. The estimated cost of the project for 8 computers and furniture with other accessories is Rs. 5,00,000.00

For providing uniform we are spending Rs. 80,000/- per year for 80 students.

Average food expenses comes to Rs. 5,000/- per day for 80 students.

Average monthly expenses comes to Rs. 6,000/- per child.

Average food expenses comes to Rs. 21,000/- per year per child.
