Jan 2019 update

Across the world the Atlas All Schools programme is expanding rapidly, now reaching 21,000 children in 15 countries. The Memphis Inner City Rugby programme that you help us to support is a flagship project for the Atlas Foundation.

Thanks to you and many like you, we have been able to support the growth of this programme to new schools and new young people in the very poorest parts of the US. The intrinsic values of fair play, resilence and grit built into rugby gives these boys and girls a ciritcal diversion from crime and anti-social behaviour alongside amazing opportunities for personal development.

The "Rugby Family" is a global support network, and already we see graduates from the Memphis Programme being supported in sport, in education and in employment because of their membership of our family.

In 2019 three of our Eurpoean Rugby Champions will travel to Las Vegas for the Rugby Sevens. There we will catch up with US Eagles and former internationals from the wider rugby world.

The Atlas Foundation will host a golf classic at the Las Vegas Country Club at which project workers and graduates will answer questions about the programme. We will also play a fourball tournament with rugby internationals and honored guests. Please contact Atlas directly if you would like to participate.

December 2018 update

In September 2017, a peace and reconciliation programme was launched for kids from some of the most marginalised schools in Israel. The ambition, to use rugby to break down racial and religious divides, and to build peace and unity through kids playing together and competing against each other.

Atlas is delighted to report that through the generoity of three UK individuals we have funded work in 12 schools across Israel. This is delivered by Rugby Israel and is focussing on teamwork and reconciliation in divided communities.

There are a further 33 schools that we wish to reach.

It costs £1,000 per school per year to work regularly with 60 boys and girls. That is less than £20 per child per year, yet the values and support of rugby last a lifetime.

The Atlas Foundation “All Schools” Programme is a proven model that:

improves academic success at school

reduces crime and anti-social behaviour out of school

creates access to jobs beyond school

In the US it is doubling graduation rates and eliminated teenage pregnancies;

In Asia it is increasing graduation rates from 18% - 80%

In Africa young players are getting work in the fitness and security industries

Memphis Update

The success of this project has led us at the Atlas Foundation to commit a further three years of funding, allowing the unique rugby and education blend to grow out from its core location across more schools in Memphis.

We are rightly proud of the 100% graduation rate of students in this programme, showcasing the transformative power of rugby.

The programme has been showcased in an award winning film.

The project leader and some of the Memphis graduates will be joining us in Las Vegas on Friday 1st March 2019 for a charity golf day – the official charity golf event of the Las Vegas Sevens.

If you would like to join us at the golf or the Sevens, please get in touch. Contact details on our website.
