YACHANA Foundation

Yachana's mission is to provide community-based solutions to poverty and environmental degradation in the rain forest. The future of the tropical forest is inextricably linked to the well-being of its inhabitants. Our socially conscious tourism and training programs are simultaneously conserving the rain forest and providing opportunities in income generation, micro-finance, health, sustainability and entrepreneurism for the people of the region.
Rebuilding the Future In Coastal Ecuador

This project provides tuition to train 32 students at a time in construction skills: masonry, electricity, carpentry for use in rebuilding damaged areas after the 7.8 magnitude Ecuadorean earthquake on April 16th. Yachana is helping young people directly impacted by this disaster by giving them skills and certification and a way to contribute to rebuilding their communities. Each course focuses on different construction skills, offered to new students. project reportread updates from the field
Build a Classroom, Save the Amazon

Yachana Foundation is dedicated to providing community-based solutions to poverty and environmental degradation in the Ecuadorian Amazon. Currently Yachana, "place for learning" in Kichwa, educates, inspires, and empowers 200 youth of the Amazon to have a positive impact on the eco-sustainability of their region. Help us build a 1,787 square foot, thatched roof classroom and an aquaponic demonstration farm for co-cultivation of plants and fish in a recirculating environment. project reportread updates from the field
"Opportunity to Dream: Yachana Future Builders"

For 28 years we at Yachana Foundation have put education as the key to a brighter future for Amazon youth. We are giving free tuition to community-oriented students this year. Our boarding students call themselves Yachana Future Builders [YFB]. Your contribution to offset YFB's tuition is your key to assure these indigenous and mestizo "builders" are equipped to reverse generations of poverty, practice environmental awareness, and act as stewards of Ecuador's rainforest. project reportread updates from the field
