Progress reports on Yachana projects #67851, #54253, #50323

Hi friends of all three of our GlobalGiving projects. One of those projects is to Help Build a Clinic in the Amazon. It is a vitally needed project that is unfortunately in an interesting state of limbo. Most of the construction is finished but we have run into bureaucratic delay’s to actually start operating the clinic. It is almost solved, but it has held up the completion of the project and importation of a container load of equipment and supplies. What is interesting though, is that just initiating this clinic project has brought other players on board who have interest and or initiated projects in health issues in our area.   We are becoming known as a health and wellness research center. The biggest of these projects is the one working with the university UIDE (University International De Ecuador) in Quito to collect samples from all the residents in over 20 communities. The residents are happy, for many, it is the first time they have had this much of a medical checkup including drawing a blood sample. I will keep you informed on this project and as other projects develop.

A second project is for the elderly that started out as a way to help reduce loneliness amount this population. It has morphed from our original plan and now is more focused on health, taking advantage of the above-mentioned health program where we are doing in depth medical checkups. There are other health projects coming on line that will help this population. I will keep you posted on those as they start up.

And our third project is related to the Save the Rainforest project. This has shifted a little to now be helping support the survival of Melipona stingless bees. We have around 15 hives that we have passed on to woman in the region plus the management of our own hives. Bees are very important pollinators and vital to the good health of the rainforest. No bees, no forest. So, it is vitally important that people continue to help support this project where woman can get a hive and help them be more self-sufficient and help the rainforest at the same time.

In all the projects we continue to need support. You can donate to any one of the three projects. Help us keep helping the people in the Amazon. If the population is not healthy, then more forest will be cut down to raise money for medical needs. You can help us, make a special donation or increase your monthly donations. Anyway you can, now is the time to help! Thanks, and remember, I love you
