Pets of the Homeless was called immediately and we were able to have him treated. He was given an exam, was given pain meds, anesthesia, wound repair, bandaged and additional meds. The total cost was $395 the hospital gave us 10% discount. He is doing good and back with his Mom.

Meet Akellah

Akellah
Akellah

This emergency case is one of many that Pets of the Homeless and your donations support every day.

Meet Akellah, she is a 9 year old, 60 pound Whippet mix that has skin issues. Her homeless owner called POTH to receive help. Akellah was itching, losing her hair and had black patches on her skin, she was miserable. One of the many vet hospitals that work with POTH at a discount performed an exam, skin scrapping (for mites), prescribed skin medication and gave her a medicated shampoo all for $240. The doctor told the owner and POTH she may have food allergies and/or flea allergies. Her owner will first try to get the fleas under control to see if her symptoms  subside.

We continue to be grateful for everyone's support, especially knowing that without people like you, we would not be able to do what we do to help dogs like Akellah.
