Hewar

Hewar ('dialogue' in Arabic) began as a community initiative in 2000, by a group of parents and activists who felt it was imperative to establish an alternative education framework for Palestinian children in Israel. The school first began operating in 2004, but has since gone through a lengthy and complicated struggle with the Israeli authorities in order to remain functional. It wasn't until 2012 when Hewar finally received a licence to operate as a private school and it currently serves 183 children, from preschool children aged 3 until 8th grade.
