February marked the end of another school year for our Tanzanian students. This month students are on a much deserved vacation and will return to classes in April to continue their studies.
Through your continued generosity, AfricAid is currently supporting 10 girls' secondary school educations through scholarships. We look ahead with much anticipation to the graduation of our scholarship students. In a country where only 5% of girls graduate from secondary school, graduation will be an incredible feat that will certainly be celebrated!
Thank you again for your support of this project and the opportunities that your generosity has created in the lives of these young women.
Our current scholarship recipients continue to work hard at their studies and move closer to graduation and their dream of becoming teachers. We continue to receive more applications for teacher training scholarships and are hoping to raise more funds in order to fulfill this request and provide more women with the opportunity to receive training.
Teaching is not a highly valued or highly paid profession in Tanzania which makes your donation towards teacher training scholarships that much more impactful. Teachers are changemakers and your generosity and support enables these young women to become influential and inspiring leaders in their communities. Thank you for your donation towards this project.
Dear AfricAid supporters,
Happy 2013 to you! I'd like to thank you for your very generous support of our school lunch program at Losinoni primary school in Tanzania. Losinoni is a very rural, Massai community just north of Arusha where many children walk 1-2 hours to school each day. With such long walks, the children need nourishment at lunch-time in order to concentrate and learn.
The Losinoni school lunch program is an ongoing program that feeds the entire school, 950 children, a nutritious lunch each day for the cost of $25 U.S. We are proud to partner with Losinoni school on this program and have worked to keep the cost of the program flat even with rising global food prices.
We plan to continue the program throughout 2013 and thank you for your ongoing support. So far, we haven't missed a day for lunch for these amazing children.
