As a women-led, Afghan-led organization, we bring together education, wellbeing, technology, and skills development to support girls and young women excluded from formal education. Our approach combines underground digital schools and locally led teaching with online, offline, radio, and SIM-supported learning. Through instruction in Dari and Pashto, students develop knowledge in mathematics, science, English, computer literacy, life skills, and leadership. HELA’s offline learning resources and LEARNistan’s AI-supported tools help extend access in communities where connectivity and educational opportunities are limited. We recognize that continued learning depends on wellbeing and support. Our work connects education with mental-health and psychosocial services, private self-guided wellbeing resources through WellMate, and health education covering maternal health, menstrual hygiene, first aid, and nutrition. Maternal healthcare and crisis assistance also form part of our wider support for women, girls, and their families. Looking beyond secondary education, our 2027–2030 direction includes plans to launch post–Grade 12 pathways in midwifery, mental-health practitioner training, and LEARNistan technology fields such as data, artificial intelligence, engineering, and related technical skills. These pathways are intended to help young women progress from education into further training and dignified work. Afghan women and communities help shape and deliver this work as educators, program designers, technologists, and leaders. By investing in their knowledge and leadership, LEARN supports a future in which girls and women can make informed choices, pursue their ambitions, and contribute to Afghanistan’s social and economic life.
