At ZA Cheetah Conservation we approach animal health proactively. To manage and mitigate health issues, we invest in preventive care measures, including routine blood tests, specialized diets, and natural supplements like calcium and vitamins. These proactive steps are essential in maintaining the quality of life for our animals.
As some of our residents at ZA Cheetah Conservation grow older, we have observed a significant rise in veterinary expenses. Some of our senior animals, require specialized care to ensure their comfort and well-being. Continuous monitoring and long-term care plans for our senior animals involve regular veterinary visits, adjustments in their care routines, and constant oversight, all contributing to the rising costs.
Many of our older animals suffer from chronic ailments such as arthritis, dental issues, and stomach problems. These conditions necessitate regular veterinary check-ups, medication, and sometimes surgical interventions, including hospital stays. During 2024, at least four different animals required hospitalization for a week or more during recovery. A single day visit to the clinic can cost anywhere from R1,000 to R5,000, not including hospital stays.
We operate in circumstances where health emergencies arise frequently, leading to unexpected veterinary costs. Quick and efficient treatment is often required to address sudden health crises, which can be costly. The escalating vet bills are a testament to our commitment to providing the best possible care for our animals.
However, this financial strain necessitates additional support and resources.
We are focusing on securing sponsorships specifically for animal medication and medical care to address these challenges. By doing so, we aim to ensure that our senior and other residents continue to receive the high-quality care they deserve.
We remain dedicated to the health and happiness of all our animals and are grateful for the ongoing support from our community and sponsors. Your contributions make it possible for us to maintain the highest standards of care and give our animals the love and attention they need.
Your contribution can make a difference and safe a life.
Many thanks
ZA Cheetah Conservation
