20 Years for Nature: A greener future

By PanNature Partnership | Public Relation Officer

As PanNature celebrates its 20th anniversary, we are reflecting on two decades of collaboration with communities, researchers, policymakers, and supporters who share a common vision: a future where people and nature thrive together.

Celebrating 20 years of conservation

Earlier this year, PanNature marked its 20th anniversary alongside government representatives, partner organizations, donors, and generations of current and former staff.

The celebration was an opportunity to reflect on our achievements, recognize the people who have shaped our journey, and share our commitment to protecting Vietnam's nature. While 20 years is an important milestone, we know that conservation requires long-term dedication and sustained collaboration. Together, we are writing the next chapter of conservation in Vietnam.

Spring festival connects culture and conservation

On January 24–25, 2026, PanNature and local partners organized a community festival in Vân Ho Commune, Son La Province.

The event combined Lunar New Year celebrations with environmental awareness activities. Local communities, forest patrol teams, and visitors participated in cultural performances, traditional games, and discussions about forest protection and wildlife conservation. By connecting local traditions with environmental stewardship, the festival strengthened community ownership of conservation efforts and reinforced the understanding that healthy forests are essential for livelihoods, culture, and future generations.

Forest and village: Community-based Conservation

Through our "Regreening Forest" initiative, PanNature continues to support the recovery of the Critically Endangered Northern White-cheeked Gibbon.

In April 2026, we held a series of community dialogues across the villages of Pa Cop, Tà Dê, Lung Xá, and Lóng Luông in Vân Ho Commune. Residents shared their knowledge of forest conditions and lessons learned from previous restoration efforts, helping identify priority areas for the next phase of habitat restoration.

In May, communities in Phú Tho Province came together to maintain previously restored forest areas by clearing invasive grasses and caring for young trees. One year after planting, recent monitoring shows an encouraging 80% seedling survival rate.

Together, these community-led efforts are helping reconnect fragmented forest corridors and expand safe habitats for this endangered primate species.

Forest restoration celebrates International Day for Biological Diversity

On May 17, 2026, more than 100 residents of Nà Bài village joined local authorities and volunteers to plant 6,000 native trees, restoring 10 hectares of natural forest.

To ensure the long-term success of the restoration site, the community established local agreements prohibiting grazing and the cutting of young trees.

As village leader Mui Van Duc shared: "People now understand that losing the forest means losing their source of life."

The event received extensive media coverage, helping amplify community voices and inspire broader support for restoration efforts.

As we look ahead, PanNature remains committed to working hand in hand with communities to restore forests, protect wildlife, and build a sustainable future where both people and nature can thrive. Thank you for being part of this journey.
