Many communities across Indonesia still lack safe bridge access. This project will support bridge construction in 100 priority areas, helping people reach schools, healthcare, worship places, farmland, markets, and daily economic activities. Wae Kuse in East Nusa Tenggara is one priority area, where children, teachers, farmers, and families still rely on a fragile emergency bridge.
In many areas of Indonesia, unsafe bridge access puts daily lives at risk. Children, teachers, farmers, and families must cross rivers or fragile temporary bridges to reach school, work, and basic services. In Wae Kuse, residents still use a bridge made from tree trunks and weak wood, which is often damaged by rain and strong river currents.
This project will help build safer bridges in 100 priority areas across Indonesia. The support will cover bridge foundations, main structures, steel materials, bridge flooring, safety railings, material mobilization, construction, monitoring, evaluation, and handover. In Wae Kuse, the bridge will support access for students, teachers, farmers, and around 2,105 residents.
Safer bridges will improve access to education, healthcare, livelihoods, worship places, markets, and public facilities. Children can go to school more safely, farmers can carry harvests more easily, and families can reach essential services with less risk. This project helps 100 areas in Indonesia gain safer access and a better path forward.
