Huge thanks again to the many donors who have contributed to this program, and continue to do so....it has been a quarter filled with character-developing activity!
Our YWOW perform Antigone
The YWOW performances in Sophocles’ Antigone were utterly sublime. Their portrayal of this Greek tale of one woman’s stance against the rule of law held conviction and passion. The cast included a mixture of seasoned YWOW dramatic arts pupils, young YWOW junior thespians and YWOW who stepped onto the stage for the first time.
Tshela: – The Crossing
It’s that time of year again when we say goodbye to our YWOW grade 9s as they embark on a two-week journey, a unique and transformative experience where they challenge themselves physically, mentally, and spiritually. Without their phones, YWOW fully immerse themselves in camping, horse riding, cycling, and hiking.
Before their departure, the YWOW received a special blessing from the Epworth school chaplain, who gave each of them a stone. The stone symbolises the challenges the YWOW would face, and each YWOW is encouraged to lay it down once they have overcome a significant hurdle, much like in biblical times.
2024 International Marimba and Steelpan Festival
What an amazing experience for Epworth YWOW to be a part of this initiative. The festival included 356 performances by 2000 marimba players from South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe,Trinidad and Tobago. The YWOW had fun, made new friends, connected with old ones and shared in the collective experience of music making.
67 Minutes for Mandela Day
The Epworth YWOW girls collaborated with the local community, Keep Pietermaritzburg Clean Association, for Mandela Day activities. Together, YWOW and KPCA dedicated efforts to clean the roads surrounding Epworth school, fostering a spirit of community and neighborly love.
Once again, thank you to every donor for your significant input to developing our Young Women of Worth...it is deeply appreciated!
