Please Help Us Reach Our Goal!

By Sharon Smith | Project Manager

Dear Supporters,

This Program is extremely important for youths and adolescences living with epilepsy. According to recent studies, many teens living with epilepsy are often bullied at school; which is detrimental to their self-esteem. Bullying and teasing is emerging as a major problem in studies of children with epilepsy. Rates of bullying and teasing reported by these children and adolescents can be upwards of 85%. Repeated exposure to bullying and teasing, and even to social isolation and exclusion, is that over time these experiences reinforce the child’s negative self-esteem and view of themselves as being different from others is a major concern. These concerns can often lead to self harm or suicide.

Therefore, this program will encourage child’s self-confidence and social integration and to respect his/her uniqueness and build on their strengths. This program will help him/her to feel competent by learning through both his/her successes and mistakes and to balance their need for protection with his/her need to take risks.

However, we are not able to implement this project effectively without your support. Please share our Project with your colleagues, family, and friends. Please help us meet our goal. Thanks again for your support.
