The Youth Sports Program for 500 Teens in Kano is progressing steadily, with careful attention to financial accountability and efficient use of available resources. The project has a total fundraising goal of $28,000, and current GlobalGiving records show $1 raised from 2 donations, leaving $27,999 still required to fully implement the planned activities.
Despite the limited funds currently available, initial project planning and financial management systems have been established. Resources have been directed toward community consultations, venue assessments, program coordination, and preparation of a detailed operating budget. Procurement plans have also been developed for sports equipment, training materials, jerseys, safety supplies, coaching, mentorship activities, and tournament logistics. The project is prioritizing cost-effective spending and partnerships with local coaches, volunteers, and community leaders to reduce overhead costs and maximize the impact of every dollar received.
The next phase will begin as additional funding becomes available, with the rollout of weekly football, basketball, and athletics sessions, mentorship workshops, and community tournaments. Continued financial support remains critical to reaching the target of 500 teenagers and delivering the full program as planned.
