This project will build a community sports center for Rwandan youth and their families. The Center will offer a free, safe, clean environment for members to spend leisure time, participate in games and athletic programs centered around community development and promoting an active healthy lifestyle.
The Cyaruzinge village located on the outskirts of Kigali, Rwanda is home to more than 100 underserved children and young adults that lack safe, clean areas to enjoy participating in sport and games. There is no habitable center for kids and community members to gather and spend leisure time together. In turn, we witnessed kids being discouraged from participating in physical activities and community building but led to unproductive dangerous activities.
The project is focused on building a youth sports center for the community. A safe haven from dangerous environments and negative influences from village life. Members will be educated in sports and fair play, health and wellness, leadership, and ethics. This facility will be used to offer athletics training camps to promote participation in running, and a place of fun and games for local children of the community. The goal to improve the lives of kids and uplift their community.
The project will actively engage over 100 children and 1000 young adults and mothers in promoting healthy living, body awareness and use sports as a means for unity, empowerment and community development.
