TO: Our LMF Team of Heroes,
I am pleased to share the progress report for our Youth Farming to Eliminate Hunger Project for this upcoming quarter, November 2025. As the year draws to a close, it is inspiring to see that our youth farmers continue to follow our modified approach — one that truly meets their needs and serves their community effectively.
Recap
Ten of our newly trained Ubuntu Youth Farmers from the 2024 cohort have returned to cultivate their assigned individual plots on the Lady Mitz Foundation farmland for hands-on practice. They are applying the techniques and strategies learned through our educational programs to create mini vegetable farms, each growing a vegetable of their choice.
Each Youth Farmer has been paired with a volunteer for assistance. These volunteers, who form the incoming 2025 cohort, are also being coached by the Youth Farmers to help them understand the same farming concepts. All ten volunteers are supervised by our Master Coach to ensure they remain consistent with program guidelines, schedules, and routines—keeping momentum and progress steady.
Harvesting
Our youth are excited to be harvesting plantains and pawpaw this season after a long waiting period of nearly 12 months. The maize crops are also thriving, and corn harvesting will begin soon.
Planting
They have planted new pumpkin seeds, replaced dried-out portions of the ugu (fluted pumpkin), and incorporated their special homemade manure to boost yield for the next harvest. The vegetable farm is currently flourishing with strong tendrils and large, tender leaves; several areas are beginning to flower and are expected to be ready for harvest by the end of the year.
Frameworks
During the dry season, our young farmers gather large quantities of ash, which they use to prepare homemade manure and natural pesticides for upcoming farming cycles. They also repair and reinforce damaged sections of the farm’s boundary fence to maintain the safety and effectivenessof the land.
Your Support Matters
It is through your unwavering support that we are able to sustain this program. We kindly ask for your continued partnership as we empower our youth to farm productively and sustainably — enabling them to feed themselves, their families, and their communities as part of our mission to eliminate hunger.
Your donations provide stipends that help our Youth Farmers maintain their farms and livelihood throughout the project. They depend on LMF, and LMF depends on you.
Save the Date: GlobalGiving’s 2025 GivingTuesday Campaign
Our GivingTuesday Campaign will run for 36 hours, from December 2, 2025, at 12:00 PM EST to December 3, 2025, at 9:00 am EST.
We are counting on your participation during these 36 critical hours as we close out our 2025 campaign!
This campaign is designed to celebrate our generous donors while also encouraging smaller donors to give at new levels. Eligible donations range from $10.00 USD (minimum) to $2,500 USD per donor per organization and may qualify for Incentive Funds.
We also encourage monthly donations, as they ensure year-round funding stability. Additionally, all new recurring donations receive a one-time 100% match after four months.
Consistent support is key to creating lasting impact. Please share this initiative with your friends and family and invite them to join us in this meaningful cause. Together, we will continue to change lives—one village at a time. Amen!
We will keep you updated on our progress. If you have any comments, questions, or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
