YOUTH FARMING TO ELIMINATE HUNGER IN RURAL NIGERIA 4th GG REPORT

To:  Our LMF Esteemed Hero,

I am delighted to bring you more good news on our project in Umunoha's rural community in Imo State Nigeria; your continuous support, donations and contributions, are the reason our youths are making steady progress.  We applaud your kindness and generosity for working together with us to improve the lives of youths in rural Nigeria.

We are 9 months into the Project, Youth Farming to Eliminate Hunger in rural Nigeria, and with your help we have been able to achieve the following:

1. Recruitment and Induction of the 20 young farmers into the cohort in January

2. Sensitization and enlightenment of the youth farmers on the objectives and goals of the project

3. Land Clearing and Preparation

4. Training of Youth Farmers

5 Procurement of Farm Tools.

6. Planting and cultivation

7. Mentoring of Youth Farmers

8. Paying Monthly Stipends to 20 Youth Farmers for upkeep

We are gradually coming to the end of the project as we look towards a robust harvest.

Upcoming Activities Include

1. Weeding

2. Harvesting

3. Training of the youths on Climate Change Adaptation practices in Agriculture

4. Presavation of crops

5. Other

You are supporting a project that is engaging young people, providing them a means of livelihood while equipping them with skills to be independent. Yes, this is what we are doing with your donations and you should give yourself kudos.  Our youths are highly enthusiastic, super grateful to you, and working very hard to achieve success; and that’s because you care. Thank you!

In order to make our project even more successful and bring it to completion, we ask you to consider making a monthly donation. Any amount is greatly appreciated and goes a long way.  You are our Team of Heroes! "GlobalGiving offers a 100% Match year-round on new recurring donations".

Also, our 3rd campaign this year, GlobalGiving’s September Little by Little Campaign is taking place September12-16 and they are matching online donations up to $50 at 50%!   Only $50 donations will be marched with $25 by GlobalGiving: so, for every $50 donated to LMF youth Farming Project during this week we will get $75 and we need your help to succeed.  We are asking you to donate and also to tell a friend about our project and ask that they donate $50 during our campaign, please.

Don’t forget that according to research, agribusiness sector is estimated at US $1 trillion by 2030? The African continent is home to almost two-third of the world's variable land. Yet, African's small scale and medium entrepreneurs are marginalized.  With almost 60% of Africa's population being under 25 years of age. 60% of African's unemployed are young adults and only 2% of African Graduate specialize in Agriculture. This emphasizes the need to sensitize, equip and empower the African youth to take advantage of the resources the continent has to offer in order to improves the economy, combat food insecurity and provide jobs, while we pray and hope that the death of the Queen of England will affect Africa positively, Amen!

This is why we need your continued partnership, when you donate you are not only helping just the youths, you are feeding the community and also creating infrastructures and jobs

Your past support has helped the Lady Mitz Foundation to implement the Youth Farming To Eliminate Hunger in Rural Nigeria progressively and we count on your continued support to achieve success, Amen!

Please do spread the words on social media.  Share our work because we need consistent support to ensure ongoing impact. “Your good deeds are not invisible because they leave a trail that is imprinted on the hearts of our youths”; you are the best, Amen!

We will keep you informed about the progress on this project. If you have any comments, advice, or question, please feel free to direct them to us @ info@ladymitz.org and our telephone is 1(631) 827-6777.
