YOUTH FARMING TO ELIMINATE HUNGER IN RURAL NIGERIA 3RD GG REPORT
To: Our LMF Esteemed Heroes,
I am excited to bring you more good news on our project in Umunoha's rural community in Imo State Nigeria. Thanks to your continuous support, donations and contributions, we are making progress. We will forever remain grateful to you all as we continue to work together to improve the lives of youths in rural Nigeria.
We are now 6 months into our project, Youth Farming to Eliminate Hunger in rural Nigeria. During the past 3 months, we've been able to achieve the following:
1. Levelling of the farm land and preparation
2. Procurement of farming tools
3. Training of youth farm students on skills and cultivation of crops.
4.Planting and cultivation
5. Application of compost
6. Youth meeting - Discussion on what works, lesson learnt, challenges and the progress.
7. Payment of monthly stipend to the young farmers.
Upcoming Activities
1. Weeding
2. Harvesting
3. Training of the youths on climate change adaptation practices in agriculture
I want to say kudos to you and everyone for supporting this project. You, me, the dream team staff on grounds in Nigeria, and GlobalGiving (all LMF Team of Heroes) are all vital in making a huge impact. We are empowering young people and providing them a means of livelihood while equipping them with skills to be independent. Bravo to LMF's Team of Heroes!
And today I am appealing to all to continue to do more and support our youths. They are working hard to achieve success and GlobalGiving has approved their project to participate in July's upcoming funds matching event. I am sending this report a week early because our youths project needs our help again.
GlobalGiving’s 2022 July Bonus Day campaign is on July 20, 2022, and begins at 09:00:00 EDT, This Bonus Day campaign will have a Matching Fund of $400,000 USD and they will be matching funds on that day as follows:
Over 133 organizations will be participating and competing for these funds and minimum of $100 Donations will be matched based on the order in which they are received while funds last and Each organization can receive up to a maximum of $3,000 USD in total Matching Funds to benefit as many partners as possible.
We are therefore, asking you to help us secure up to $3000 in GlobalGiving matching funds for our youth project as quickly as early 9.00am ET on Bonus Day July 20, 2022 (since the funds may run out faster due to others competing for it). It is a great opportunity for our Youths Farming Project and with your help it can happen, Amen
