Intensive home-visits by nurses from the Nurse-Family Partnership program in the course of 2+ years help young vulnerable first-time moms develop parenting skills for their babies' healthy start in life. Parents learn how to stimulate their children's emotional and cognitive development, and receive support to gain economic independence. NFP is one of the best-tested ways to empower parents living in disadvantaged communities - we need your help to continue this important work!
Thousands of young first-time mothers in Bulgaria are practically deprived of adequate prenatal and postnatal care due to social exclusion and financial constraints. Many drop out of school because of their pregnancies and miss their chances for professional development. At the same time those young women lack key parenting skills to secure their babies' health, safety and stimulating environment. All this results in perpetuation of the cycle of poverty and exclusion.
Our solution - building parenting skills, improving children's health, supporting family well-being through home visits and referrals to services. This is the essence of the Nurse-Family Partnership - one very few global programs proven to dramatically improve life outcomes for infants and mothers. From pregnancy until the child gets 2 yrs old, nurses support impoverished moms in their homes. Thus, your generous donations can help those women and babies get the head start they need in life.
We will be able to provide pivotal home-based care to more moms and newborns in the coming years as a result of this critical support. The initiative offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to expressively alter a child's life path. Furthermore, we will establish a solid basis for many future moms' support in the years to come - not just in the maternal role but also on the way to economic independence. With your support, parents are creating better futures for themselves and their families.
